Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Saturday was the Feast of St Mary MacKillop, Australia's first saint and a woman who had such a positive impact on Catholic schools in our country. She was such a pioneer in so many ways, forging a significant place for women in the church and providing a quality education for so many children from underprivileged backgrounds. Although St John's was not established by the Sisters of St Joseph, the order that Mary set up, Catholic schools at the time were beginning to flourish due to her hard work and dedication. Those of us who have been impacted by a Catholic school, now or in the past, owe Mary a great deal of gratitude.
School Photos
You are reminded that school photos are being taken next Tuesday 18 August. All children will need to wear their full winter school uniform on the day. We have been working closely with the company taking the photographs to ensure we follow appropriate procedures regarding current COVID-related restrictions. At present we are allowed to have individual class and student photographs taken.
Parents and Friends Association
I would like to acknowledge the P & F Association for initiating their very first Zoom meeting, which went successfully. There was great discussion about future fundraising which can be held safely during this time of restrictions. Please keep an eye out for future notifications about such opportunities.
COVID-safe Measures
You are reminded of the following procedures which suppoort our school being a safe environment for the children and staff:
- Children and staff who have flu-like symptoms are not to be at school and are to seek medical advice. Please notify the office of your child needs to have a COVID test.
- Our school continues to have cleaner on site each day, attending to the cleaning of high-touch surfaces.
- Our drop-off and pick-up arrangements limit the number of adults being on the school site, and the length of time that they are on the school site.
Thank you for your support of these measures.
Wishing you a safe week.
God bless.
