Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

In Religious Education lessons, the students learn about the different seasons of the church year. We are now in the midst of the longest season which is called Ordinary Time. During the season of Ordinary Time, we celebrate the life and teachings of Jesus. Though the word ordinary can connote something commonplace or dull, Ordinary Time is far from mundane! Ordinary in the sense of Ordinary Time is derived from the word ordinal, meaning to count. Ordinary Time is a time to learn and follow the teachings of Christ in our daily lives, to grow as his disciples, and to become better able to give witness to his Good News in our everyday lives. It is a time where we are encouraged to make every moment of Ordinary Time count.

Student reports

Today your child's report (for children in Years 1-6), will be available for you to view on Compass. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their achievements and to support them with any identified goals. I would like to acknowledge the teachers for their dedication in ensuring that each report reflects the progress that each child has made during Semester One.

In the report, your child will receive a grade for each Key Learning Area from A-E. As can be seen from the details in the descriptors below, the majority of children will receive a 'C' grade as that reflects that they have achieved sound knowledge and understanding:

A: The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.

B: The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

C: The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

D: The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

E: The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.

Children in Kindergarten will receive a report at the end of Semester Two.

Parent/Teacher Meetings

Information was distributed on Compass yesterday providing you with details as to how to book in for a parent/teacher meeting next week. These meetings are held for all children from Kindergarten to Year 6. The focus of the meeting is your child's report and to assist you in being prepared for the meeting, a feedback sheet will be provided for you to write down any points of discussion from the report so as to make full use of the 10 minutes that you have.

Wishing you a safe week,
