Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Our Kindergarten students began their schooling journey yesterday full of great hope and excitement. Watching them settle into school-life reminded me of the great privilege that I and our staff have of being a part of their lives during the next seven years. I pray that their time at St John's is full of wonder, peace and joy.
Anniversary of National Apology
Commemorated annually on 13 February, this day encourages remembrance of, and apology to, the Stolen Generations and those whose lives have been blighted by past government policies.
Our school is committed to acknowledging the wrongs of past injustices, for the loss of lands, cultures and treasures. We commit to actively work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for reconciliation and justice, believing we can walk together to a better future.
God of Justice,
We come to seek your guidance, wisdom and compassion.
As we pray for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have been wronged in the past, may our hearts be open to receive your healing grace, so that we in turn bring healing to each other.
Amen
Meet and Greets
A form was sent home with your child yesterday about an opportunity for you to provide information to your child's teacher so they can work with you to support their learning and well-being throughout the year. It is unfortunate that at this point in time we cannot have face-to-face meetings, however you do have the option of having a telephone conversation with the teacher. If you choose this option, your child's teacher will endeavour to contact you next week.
COVID Safe Measures
Thank you for your support in administering these tests twice per week. The next round of tests will be provided by the end of this week. Information about their distribution will be included in this Newsletter and via Compass.
Many of our students have been choosing to wear a mask at school which is encouraged. Just a reminder that the medical masks are the preferred type as opposed to cloth masks.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful week,
