Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

"Merciful and gracious Father, you showed the fullness of your love when you gave your only Son for our salvation and sent down upon us the power of your Spirit.
Complete within us the work of your love, that we who have communion in Christ may come to share fully the undying life he lives with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen."

On the first Sunday after Pentecost, the Church celebrates the the Holy Trinity, a feast day on which we affirm our faith in God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The concept of the 'triune God' (three-in-one) is essential to Christianity, so it is natural that a feast day is dedicated to honouring God explicitly as the Holy Trinity. Although it is steeped in a mystery that can be hard to comprehend, the Trinity teaches us the importance of relationship, as the three persons of God share in a communion of love. As the Father, Son, and Spirit are one God, we as Christians are the many members of the one Body of Christ, distinct but united in an interconnected love for God and each other. In a world that at times seems fractured, this message of unity becomes increasingly vital.

Flu season

Just as the broader community is currently feeling the effects of the flu season, our school has also been impacted. Thank you for ensuring that your child is closely monitored for any flu symptoms and given the chance to recover at home. If COVID has taught us anything, it is that the best way to reduce the spread of illness is through isolation and good hygiene.

Of course, like many industries, our staffing continues to be impacted by flu and COVID. Wherever possible, we are able to use casual teaching staff to cover classes. However, there are days when this is not possible and so a class may need to be 'split' across other classes for a day. We carefully consider the age of the children in doing this and the impact it may have, and we also aim to to not have the same class split too many times. Rest assured we try very hard to reduce the impact of this for our students.

Tonga Appeal

Thank you to the families who supported the recent St John's Parish Tonga Appeal. There was an overwhelming response to this very practical initiative. It has been wonderful to work closely with the Parish in order to support the people of Tonga as they continue their recovery from the volcanic explosion.

Wishing you a happy and safe week,

Paul Moroney
