Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

God of love and compassion, you are the creator of this land and of all its people. We pray that we work together so that all people's culture, spirituality, traditions and customs are respected and valued. May we get up, stand up and show up and build strong relationships that seek out justice and equality for all. Amen.

NAIDOC Week 2022 will be held nationally from this Sunday 3 July and continue through to Sunday 11 July 2022.

This year's NAIDOC 2022 theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! a theme that calls for all of us to support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms that ensures the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians is based on justice, equity, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.

During this early part of Term 3, we are acknowledging NAIDOC Week which occurred during the recent school holidays. On Monday morning, many of our Aboriginal students led the school in a prayer assembly. Today an Aboriginal performer has led a workshop for all our students, and on Thursday some of our Aboriginal students will be attending the NAIDOC celebration at John Therry Catholic College. Finally, in two weeks time Janelle and Andrew, our Aboriginal Education Assistants, will be running a Meet and Greet for the parents of our Aboriginal students.

Grandparents Day

Next Tuesday 26 July we will be celebrating Grandparents Day. This is the actual Feast Day of Jesus' grandparents, Sts Joachim and Anne. We hope that each child can have a grandparent or a significant adult attend some part of the day. Mass will be held under the COLA commencing at 10.15am. We will have a limited number of chairs available for our visitors so it would be good if they can bring their own chair, if possible. Morning tea will be provided for our visitors and then they will have the chance to visit the children's classrooms. Children will be able to leave early with their grandparents if you wish.

200 Year Anniversary Mass

On 1 September 1822 Fr John Therry celebrated the first Mass in the Macarthur and our Diocese. Our Parish will be celebrating this significant event on Sunday 28 August with Mass under our school COLA at 10.00am followed by refreshments. We would like as many families as possible to attend this Mass as a show of support for our Parish, of which we are all a member. Please mark it in your diary.

COVID directives

There are no updates to the COVID-safe directives. Procedures that we are now very familiar with must continue to be followed:

  • Although not mandatory, masks can be worn at school
  • If your child is presenting with COVID or flu-like symptoms then they should not attend school
  • Your child is to isolate from school for one week if they test positive for COVID, and the school must be notified

Wishing you all a happy and safe week,

Paul Moroney
