Principal's Report
Dear parents and carers,
Vision of St John the Evangelist Parish
St John the Evangelist Parish is a welcoming community of brothers and sisters in Christ that grows in love and unity, nurtures faith, serves, and gives with generosity. Nourished by the Eucharist, empowered by the Word, and led by the Holy Spirit, we share the transforming love of Jesus with others, in the tradition of our patron, St John the Evangelist.
We look forward to the 200 Year celebration this Sunday at 10.00am. Our school is an important part of the parish and so your support of this occasion will be greatly appreciated. We will have some students involved in the Mass, as well as others performing a dance as part of some entertainment. This celebration will include the following:
- Mass commencing at 10.00am under the school COLA. We will have some students involved in various parts of the Mass.
- food provided by various parish cultural groups. Our P & F will be running a BBQ at which they will need as many helpers as possible. Please contact our office if you are able to help.
- entertainment by various groups in the parish, including a group of our students involved in a dance performance.
The following article has been written by a local historian, Jeff McGill, which gives a recount of that day 200 years ago.
Book Week Parade
Thank you to the many parents and visitors who were able to join us for the Book Week Parade. It was certainly a very colourful and vibrant event with some creative costumes being worn by students and staff. It was certainly wonderful to celebrate Book Week in this way again.
Staff Development Day
The next Staff Development Day will be held on Friday 14 October. Please note that this will be a Pupil Free Day.
Wishing you all a happy and safe week,
Paul Moroney
