Deputy Principal Report

WELCOME BACK

We are excited to welcome our students and their families back to the start of a new school year. We all hope that you had an enjoyable Christmas and positive beginning to the new year.

This time last year we were trying to navigate our way through distributing RAT kits to our families and ensuring COVID safety measures were in place. Thankfully that is now in the past as we commence this school year with a greater sense of normality. Both teachers and students deserve some normality after what they have had to endure in recent years. We very much look forward to the year ahead as we support the learning and well being of our children.

MORNING DROP OFF PROCEDURES

The safety of the children is of greatest concern for both parents and teachers. To ensure their safety, please watch the following clip that shows two of the ways students can be dropped off in the morning.

We have two staff members supervising the morning drop off area in the Church car park, to allow for a safe and smooth process for all.

We would also ask that any parents taking their child(ren) through the car park, walk along the outside or perimeter to enter the school gates. For the safety of everyone we would please ask that you not cross at the morning drop off area.

We thank you in anticipation of your ongoing support for the safety of the children.

SAFER INTERNET DAY

On Tuesday, 7 February, it is Safer Internet Day. In this online world we live in, it is crucial that our students are aware of being safe when on the internet.

This year marks the 20th year of this global event. It is now celebrated annually in about 200 countries and territories. From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns.

As we did last year, we are currently in the process of engaging our local Police Liaison Officer to visit the Primary students to discuss online safety.

We strongly encourage all parents and carers to speak with their children about the importance of being safe online. Help for parents in this area can be found at https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents
