Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Lord Jesus, you became man and came to live among us. For love of us, you suffered and died for us. Because you are God, you conquered death and rose on the third day. You promised to remain with us till the end of time, and to send us the Holy Spirit. We rejoice and thank you, Lord Jesus. Come Holy Spirit, purify and transform us, kindle within us the fire of your love. Amen.
This Sunday our church celebrates the solemnity of the Feast of the Ascension, when we acknowledge that Jesus returned to be with His Father. At our whole school Mass yesterday, Fr John reminded all of us that the most significant part of the story of Jesus' ascension into heaven is that he implored with His disciples to go out and spread His word of love and forgiveness. That same message is relevant for us today. As believers in His grace and mercy, it is important that we spread this message through our deeds and actions with others.
I hope that all our mums and grandmums had a lovely day on Sunday. It was wonderful to see so many of you join our school community on Monday for a picnic. There was a lovely atmosphere, with many smiles and lots of love (and food, of course!).
Late arrivals to school
We have become aware in recent weeks of the increased number of children arriving late to school. One day this week we had more than forty children arriving well after the start of school.
Of course, we are aware of the difficulty you may experience on the occasional morning in getting children ready for school, and if you have more than one school to get to, there can be challenges in being on time. However, if your child is consistently late this can impact on their organisation and learning. If your child is just ten minutes late each day, by the end of the year that adds up to the equivalent of missing seven whole school days.
The start of the school day (8.45am) is critical in setting up routines in the classroom so that the learning can happen as soon as possible.
P & F Meeting
The Term 2 meeting for the P & F will be held next Tuesday 23 May at 9.00am in the school hall. You are all very welcome to attend.
Staff Development Day
You are reminded that our next Staff Development Day (pupil-free) is Monday 5 June. Aspire, the company that runs our before and after school care, will be open all day if you need care for your children.
Wishing you a great week,
Paul Moroney
