Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Immaculate Mary, assumed into heaven,
teach us to trust in God’s plan the way you did.
Do not let us fear obstacles or uncertainties.
Inspire us and pray for us, as we celebrate your Assumption.
Amen.
Yesterday our school community celebrated Mass for the Solemnity of the Feast of the Assumption in the St John's Parish Church. How wonderful it was that we could all be in the church again for a whole-school Mass. The last time we were able to do so was February 2020!
When we celebrate Mass in the church there is limited seating for parents and other family members. Therefore, when we are celebrating something significant (like Grandparents Day) we will still use the COLA so that more people can join us.
Science Week Spectacular
It was with such pride in our Year 6 students that I was able to witness such a fantastic Science Spectacular last week. The students displayed genuine leadership in the way that they demonstrated the experiments with such maturity and scientific knowledge. The students in the other grades were kept very engaged and left the hall with new learning about some aspects of science.
Book Week
Next week is Book Week. Included in this, and previous, newsletters is information about a 'Pre-Loved Book Sale'. Donations of books are welcome, and children will have the chance to purchase books during the week. Also, on Friday 25 August, our Book Dress Up Parade will take place after our morning assembly in the playground area. Children are able to dress up as a favourite book character.
Annual Parish Celebration
You are reminded that the parish is hosting an Annual Parish Celebration on Sunday 27 August. It will begin with Mass under the school COLA at 10.00am, followed by food stalls provided by the various cultural groups and entertainment. Some of our student are going to be involved in the Mass and the entertainment. Our school is a significant part of the parish and so all families are encouraged to join in this parish celebration.
Wishing you a great week,
Paul Moroney
