Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Fast from judging others; Feast on Christ dwelling in them.
Fast from fear of illness; Feast on the healing power of God.
Fast from words that pollute; Feast on speech that purifies.
Fast from discontent; Feast on gratitude.
Fast from anger; Feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism; Feast on hope.
Fast from negatives; Feast on encouragement.
Fast from bitterness; Feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern; Feast on compassion.
Fast from suspicion; Feast on truth.
Fast from gossip; Feast on purposeful silence.
Fast from problems that overwhelm; Feast on prayer that sustains.
Fast from anxiety; Feast on faith.
Amen
I pray that this Lenten season has been giving you an opportunity to 'feast' on the things that nourish your spirit and 'fast' from the things that turn you away form our loving God.
Harmony Day
We look forward to joining many other communities across Australia in celebrating Harmony Day tomorrow. In fact, it is now designated as Harmony Week and is aimed at celebrating our country's diversity and the different backgrounds from which we originate. At St John's we have more children coming from 40 different cultural backgrounds and this is certainly worth celebrating!
Children are able to come to school dressed in traditional cultural clothing or clothes that are a symbol of their cultural background. Otherwise, they can wear orange which is the colour designated to acknowledge Harmony Week.
It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Wishing you a safe and blessed week,
