Deputy Principal Report
PARENT COMMUNICATION SURVEY
As mentioned at the P & F meeting on Monday, 4 March, one of our goals for this year is to organise a consistent approach to communicating with parents and carers about student learning from K-6. Before this is implemented, we are in the process of gathering information from teachers and parents/carers about the best strategies to improve communication. We are aware that this is an area for improvement and wish to take positive steps to address this matter.
In the coming week, we will share a survey with parents/carers about communication between school and home. We would greatly appreciate your insights into this matter. Staff have already been surveyed.
The link to the Parent Communication Survey will be shared via Compass.
The data collected will help us to devise a plan for this year which will be implemented next term. This plan will then be evaluated as the year progresses to ensure we meet the right balance in supporting communication about student learning with parents and carers.
LENT- PROJECT COMPASSION
During Lent, we are called to pray, fast and participate in almsgiving. As part of our Catholic Social Teaching we are obliged to give preferential treatment to the poor. We thank students and families in anticipation for their contribution to Project Compassion during this liturgical season.
Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion provides those less fortunate than us, the opportunity to learn new skills, enables them to move away from dependence and debt and assists them to become self-supporting. We are extremely grateful for the work of this Catholic organisation. Thank you to the Mini Vinnies Team who have continued to promote this important fundraising initiative. Also a special thank you to all the students and their families who have contributed to Project Compassion during this season.
HARMONY DAY- THURSDAY, 21 MARCH
Harmony Day is held on 21 March, an opportunity when we celebrate the cultural diversity of our school community. Tomorrow students can wear vibrant shades of orange and/or cultural attire as we come together to honour our unique heritages.
Harmony Day is not just about recognising our differences but celebrating the strength and beauty that comes from our diverse backgrounds. It's a day to foster understanding, respect, and inclusivity within our school community.
Whilst Harmony Day is still predominantly celebrated in Australia, people celebrate it worldwide by reflecting on the ways they can live in harmony with their neighbours, regardless of their background or circumstances.
