First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion

Last weekend, students came together with their family and friends to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. The word ‘communion’ means to be united with. As Catholics, we believe that in Holy Communion we are united in a special way with Jesus Christ. At his last supper, united with his followers, Jesus said, “Take and eat, this is my body.” When we receive Holy Communion, we as Catholics believe that in a mysterious way we are sharing in the body and blood of Christ.

First Holy Communion is a special occasion as it is a step further in becoming one with Christ. The celebration last weekend was so special to our students and the Parish community.  Congratulations to all the students who enjoyed this special day and may you continue to be in communion with our Parish and faith community. A special thank you goes to the teachers who lead Communion Classes; Mrs Brticevich, Mrs Marten, Mrs Le-Guier, Miss Johnson, Mrs Glenn and Mrs Skinner. Thank you to Dianna Hill and Norman McNally for the continued support of these students in their preparation and organisation on the day. Additionally, thank you to those from the parish that supported music ministry and reading.

Some students wanted to share their thoughts on the day.

Alex Yr 3: It was a special day because we got to receive Jesus for the first time.

Jess Yr4: It was special to me because I got to receive the Sacrament with my brother and sister.

Gabby Yr 3: It was special because I became closer to God.
