Disco Information and Instructions for Parents
Younger Kids Disco vs Older Kids Disco
We have received feedback in the past that due to their age and size that Yr 3 children might feel a bit intimidated surrounded by much larger older children. They may also enjoy the music tailored to the younger crowd. For the first time this year, we are allowing Yr 3 to choose which disco they would prefer to go to.
Younger Kids Disco is for Kindergarten up to Yr 3 kids. Doors open at 6:15pm for drop off and opens again at 7:30pm for pick-up. Older Kids Disco is for Yr 3 to Yr 6 kids. Doors open at 7:45pm for drop off and opens again at 9pm for pick-up.
Yr 3 can only go to one disco. We will refuse entry to a second disco. It is advised that Yr 3 kids agree with their friends before hand which disco they will be attending.
The disco is for St John students only. No parents or siblings will be allowed on the premises (even if you show us a WWC). Only pre-registered volunteers for this specific event will be allowed on the premises.
Teachers are received an invitation to attend the discos to support their students if they wish to and the P&F are supported by Mr Moroney and Mr Williams during both events.
There is always a first aid certified adult in attendance at our discos.
Drop Off procedure
Novelty Lights Stall: There is a novelty lights stall available for children to purchase novelty items such as glow sticks and glasses. Please visit this stall before heading to registration.
Registration: Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for registration. There will be 3 lines for the child’s class colour. I.e. if your child in in K Blue, you will need to line up behind the blue table. Be ready to provide class and name to be marked off.
Payment: Pre payment for the tickets is available via Trybooking at https://www.trybooking.com/CSLPP
After registration you will then be invited to form two lines at the next table. There will only be one line accepting EFTPOS payments. If you are paying by EFTPOS please join this line. When the doors open, your payment will be taken and you will drop off your child at the external door. No parents will be allowed through the door into the foyer. Promptly leave via the exit route so you do not block the path and prevent other children trying to enter the disco. See map diagram to visualize this route.
Canteen
Once inside, children have access to a canteen where they can purchase drinks and snacks. Please give your child cash for them to purchase what they like. A price list of what will be available will be posted on Compass before the event.
Inclusivity/ Disability Support
If your child requires other accommodations, please contact us prior to the event to ensure we can adequately support. Please do not leave this to the day of the event as we would like to get all children into the hall as efficiently as possible. Contact Chi on 0411 816 876 or pandf@sjctdow.catholic.edu.au
Pick-Up procedure
Queue outside Door 4 along the ramp for pick up. Doors will open at 7:30pm for the Younger Kids disco and 9pm for the Older kids disco.
There will be class signs held up by our parent helpers. Go to this sign to locate your child. Exit through Door 1. See map diagram to visualize this route.
Parent Helpers
The P&F rely on parent helpers to ensure the smooth and safe running of the event. The only parents allowed on site will be the P&F and parent helpers.
We will need helpers for the following times.
Younger Kids Disco: 6pm-7:45pm
Older Kids Disco: 7:30pm-9:15pm
You will need a valid WWC. Please email pandf@sjctdow.catholic.edu.au with your full name, DOB, WWC and which Disco you would like to volunteer for. You can volunteer for both discos. You will receive a confirmation email regarding whether we have rostered you onto the event. Thanks in advance to all the parents who volunteer.
