God of Love, thank you for every teacher who notices a child’s special gift. Thank you for teachers who are listeners and gentle guides.
God of Mercy, Sustain teachers who give everything they have. Help exhausted teachers rest.
God of Strength, Encourage teachers to care and inspire them to nourish. Motivate teachers to keep on learning for the fun of it and to make learning enjoyable for children.
God of Justice, help and support teachers in their special calling, wherever they teach and whatever obstacles they must face. We pray these things in the name of our great teacher, Jesus Christ.
Dear Parents and Carers,
This Friday we will be celebrating World Teachers Day along with many other schools across Australia. The theme this year is 'Hat's Off To Teachers' so it is a great time to acknowledge our teachers for their skilled work in educating, inspiring and supporting our students at St John's. Every day I see so many examples of our teachers going beyond what is expected of them so that students are being looked after. The Dalai Lama says "When educating the mind, we must not forget to educate the heart." Our students are so fortunate to have teachers who value a holistic approach to education, who are faith-filled, and who are focussed on the growth and development of the whole child.
Your child may like to acknowledge their teacher in some small way this Friday eg a card, drawing, personal note etc.
Staff Development Day
Please note that our final pupil-free day (Staff Development Day) for the year is on Monday 28 October. On this day, all staff will be off-site for our Spiritual Formation day. Therefore, the office will be closed on this day.
