Principal's Report

Almighty God, who wonderfully created us in your own image and yet more wonderfully restored us in your Son Jesus Christ:

grant that, as he came to share our human nature, so we may be partakers in his divine glory; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Sunday our Church celebrates the Feast of Christ the King. In today’s world, the image of Christ as King has largely lost its power, for it is an image that belongs to a bygone age. This image of Christ as King is also far removed from that which the Church holds up - a man who lived with the poor and outcast; who had no need of rubies, expensive clothing and crowns; who died in the most undignified way.

This is not to say that when we are truly in his presence that we cannot feel his ‘authority’ move us … if we let it.  And let us remember the Kingdom that Jesus referred to throughout his ministry. It is into this kind of kingdom that He invites us when we feel moved to speak up against injustice, when we feel moved to support another who is being bowed down, when we feel moved to do any of the things suggested in the Beatitudes. For it is only then that we feel the full force of Christ the King acting upon us and directing us, and we are faced with the choice of either living under God’s Rule and doing his Will, or choosing to live outside his kingdom by ignoring it.

Advent

The season of Advent commences on Sunday the 1st of December. This is a significant time in our Church's liturgical calendar. It is a time for prayer and thoughtful preparation about the true meaning of Christmas. As a Catholic school, we want to honour the season of Advent before moving into the commercial side of Christmas. As such, students are welcome to bring Christmas cards, candy canes, small Christmas chocolates to share with their friends from Monday 9th December. Please be mindful that any treats do not contain nuts.

Building Project

For those of you who have been at the school in recent weeks, you will have noticed that the current building of a new canteen and a second block of toilets is nearing completion. We hope to begin using these facilities soon.

As we received Federal Government funding for this project, we are required to have an official acknowledgement of this project. This is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 10 December at 10.00am. More details will be provided next week.

God bless,
