Principal's Report
We give thanks for this new school year and pray for energy and patience through changes for students, teachers and families.
We pray for compassionate hearts to reach out to those in need.
We pray for unity as we work together for a safe community.
We pray that all people will treat others with kindness and respect.
We pray that we continue to be inclusive and broad in our thinking, that we continue to be imaginative and innovative, that we have the energy required to sustain us.
We pray that we continue to be intentional collaborators, guided by your spirit.
We give thanks for all the blessings you have given us. Help us not to overlook them.
We ask all this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Welcome to the 2025 school year, especially to all of the new families who have joined the St John’s school community. My hope is that together we are able to support your children in their spiritual, academic and social growth and development. They have returned to school with such positivity and renewed energy that I can’t help but to be filled with such hope for a great year ahead. It was so wonderful to see our Kindergarten students settling into 'big school' today, the first day of what we pray will be a rewarding experience.

Meet & Greet sessions
An important aspect of ensuring we are meeting your child's needs is to maintain positive communication with you, as parents and carers. We are organising time for a 'Meet & Greet' session between yourselves and your child's classroom teacher in Week 4 of this term (17-21 February). This will give you an opprtunity to share with the teacher information about your child which would be valuable in knowing to support their learning and faith development. Details about booking a session will be made available via Compass. There will also be a form sent home for you to complete which will assist in directing the conversation that you have.
Attendance
There will be information distributed to all parents from the Catholic Education Office in coming weeks regarding an updated Attendance Policy. In the meantime, I would just like to remind you of the importance of children attending school each day, and that they arrive on time. You may think that missing 5-10 minutes in the morning is not going to greatly effect their learning; however, that is the time when routines are established for the day and children not present at that time take can take longer to get themsleves organised and engaged in their learning. It is also strongly encouraged that family holidays are taken during school holiday periods rather than during the term.
