Deputy Principal report

PENTECOST

This Sunday, 8 June, is the feast of Pentecost. This day is extremely important as we remember the beginning of our Church.

Jesus had ascended back into the heavens, the Apostles were hanging around, scared and confused, and nobody knew what to do. Going out to baptise people and preach about Jesus was the last thing they had in mind because their lives would be in danger.

But Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit – the force that turned a bunch of frightened, mixed-up folks into church. The Holy Spirit provided them with courage, knowledge, direction and commitment! Everyone started speaking and was understood, no matter what the language of the listener was! These were saints suddenly on fire with the Holy Spirit. And it all began with the sending of the Spirit.

On Thursday, 5 June, we will be celebrating this significant feast as a school community with Mass under the COLA. The Mass will commence at 10am and we invite parents and carers to join us for our liturgy. We thank our Year 5 teachers and students for preparing and participating in the celebration tomorrow.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK

As we end National Reconciliation Week in 2025, we thank St Patrick’s College for inviting us to celebrate with them

Year 2 were also very creative and made a variety of colouring in, chalk drawing and a grade collage to mark the occasion. “Bridging Now to Next," is the theme for reconciliation this year, which emphasizes the ongoing connection between the past, present, and future in the reconciliation journey. This theme encourages all Australians to look ahead, learn from the past, and continue pushing forward together.

STUDENTS ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL

We understand the challenges that come with getting students ready for school and ensuring they arrive on time. However, we'd like to emphasise the importance of punctuality, as it plays a significant role in your child's education and overall well-being. There have been 40-50 students who have been late to school each day.

Children can be brought to school between 8:15am-8:45am. The school gates close not long after 8:45am.

Arriving at school and class on time:

ظ Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day

ظ Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine

ظ Give students time to greet their friends before class

ظ Reduces classroom disruption

Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.

(Compulsory School Attendance- NSW Dept of Education Oct. 23)

We kindly request your support in ensuring that your child arrives at school on time.

If you have any questions or need assistance in promoting punctuality, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you and your child.
