Deputy Principal report
SEMESTER ONE REPORTS & PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Your child/ren's Semester One Report will be available to view on your Compass Portal under "view academic reports" today. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child's progress and achievements over the past semester. If you have any trouble accessing your child’s report please contact the office as soon as possible.
Next week, for most classes, we will have the opportunity for our half-yearly parent-teacher interviews. These interviews are essential for fostering a collaborative environment that supports the student's academic and personal development. It ensures that both parents and teachers are aligned in their efforts to help the student succeed.
Thanks to Parents/carers who have already scheduled their interview time(s) via our online booking system. A reminder that the booking system is accessed via Compass. Once logged in you will be able to enter your details, choose your teacher, then pick the time available that is most suitable for you. Bookings will close at 5.00pm on Sunday, 29 June.
We look forward to this valuable opportunity to share student progress with parents and carers.
SCHOOL PRIDE HOUSE COMPETITION
In Week 10, our School Pride House Competition will be awarded to the students who have collected the most tokens for their house by consistently wearing the correct uniform and participating in Waste Free Wednesday this term.
The winning house will be announced on Monday, 30 June via Compass and at Tuesday morning’s assembly. The reward will take place on Wednesday, 2 July. On this day students from the winning house will be rewarded with a mufti day and Zooper Dooper.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS- TEACHER PLACEMENT
Over the past few weeks we have supported university students from ACU with teacher placement. These students are currently completing their degree in Primary Education. They are completing their time here at St John’s. The feedback from them all has been overwhelmingly positive. They all spoke very highly of our students and the teachers who were supervising them.
We certainly need more young teachers in our system and hope that one day they may even return to our wonderful community. These students did a great job supporting the learning of our children throughout their placement. Their names and classes they were with are below. We wish them all the best in the future.
Emma Smith- 5B
Charlotte Malvern- 6B
Angelica Estrada- 5G
Kane Doran- 6G
Reece Creak- 5R
NETBALL GALA DAY
A reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, 26 June, we have ten teams (94 students) representing St John’s at the Western Region Netball Gala Day. We wish the students the very best on the Netball Court and encourage them all to be safe, responsible, organised and respectful. But most importantly to have fun!
The day is non-competitive to cater for children of all abilities. Teams have been selected based on preferences given by children earlier in the year. The aim is to give everyone an opportunity to participate, regardless of skill or ability.
NAIDOC WEEK
The 2025 NAIDOC Week theme is The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.
NAIDOC Week 2025 marks a powerful milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC Week, honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture and resilience. The NAIDOC committee chose this theme to celebrate "…not only the achievements of the past but also the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors."

On Thursday, 3 July, our school community will be recognising NAIDOC Week with a special mufti day. Students will be encouraged to wear red, black and/or yellow clothing to symbolise the aboriginal flag. On this day, teachers will also support the students to make a connection as to why they are wearing the colours they have on during a special prayer. We thank our families in anticipation of their support of this important week for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters.
