Principal Report

Lord, help students to find physical, mental, and spiritual rest in you, knowing that you are always by their side, guiding and protecting them. As they face challenges, fill them with power, love, and self-control. Keep them steady and sure. Help them not to lose sight of what you have called them to and how you have equipped them. May they feel secure in your perfect love. In Christ’s name. Amen.

    Dear Parents/Carers,

From today, Semester 1 student reports for all students will be available on the Compass app. If you need any support in accessing your child's report, please contact our school's office.

I hope you use your child's report as a celebration of what they have been able to achieve. A focus on a positive mindset, which we use with the children, will also enable them to see that there will also be areas in which they can improve, something that is true of everyone and important for growth to occur.

As happens for all schools across Australia, students in Years 1-6 receive an overall achievement grade for each Key Learning Area (subject). This grade is based on a 5-point scale. Across our diocese, the scale used is 'Extensive, Thorough, Sound, Basic, Elementary.' A grade of 'Sound' is an indication that students are achieving what is expected of them for their Year level in any subject. An 'Extensive' or 'Thorough' grade indicates they are working beyond the expectations, while a 'Basic' or 'Elementary' show they are working towards the expected outcomes. The report also gives you an indication of their work and social habits, as well as some aspects to focus on for next semester.

Students in Kindergarten receive an achievement grade of 'Thorough, Sound, or Basic.'

I would like to acknowledge the work of our teachers in writing the reports. They are extremely dedicated in ensuring your child's report is an accurate reflection of their progress.

    Parent/Teacher meetings

The reports are only one form of communicating with you about your child’s growth in faith and learning. Having the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher is another significant method of working together for the benefit of your child. While this can happen at any time during the year, next week will be an opportunity for you to book an appointment. Details of how to book was pushed out on Compass last week. Please note that meetings will be limited to 10 minutes. If this does not give you or the teacher enough time, you are welcome to schedule a follow up meeting.

Staff Development Days for Term 2 & 3

You are reminded of the next Staff Development Day being held this term:

    • Friday 4 July (this means the end of Term 2 for the students is Thursday 3 July)

Our Term 3 Staff Development Day (and final one for the year) will be held on:

    • Monday 25 August

Students do not come to school on these days.

With every blessing for the week ahead,

    Paul Moroney

    Principal
