TERM 2 REFLECTION

Semester One is coming to a close. It certainly has been a busy first half of 2025.

A Term of Connection and Growth

We extend a huge thank you to all parents and carers who attended our Parent/Teacher Meetings. Your engagement and partnership are vital to your children's success, and these meetings provided invaluable opportunities for us to collaborate on their learning journeys.

Sporting Highlights

Our students have participated in a variety of sporting endeavours this term. The Netball Gala Day was a fantastic display of teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship, with all participants giving their best. We also celebrated incredible athletic talent at the School Athletics Carnival, where students pushed their limits and cheered on their peers. A special congratulations to our students who represented St John’s at the Diocesan Cross Country event, demonstrating remarkable endurance and determination.

Community and Faith

This term has seen a strong focus on our school's values and community involvement. Our Mother's Day celebrations were a heartwarming tribute to the special women in our lives. The Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal saw an outpouring of generosity from our school community, providing much-needed support to those in need. We also came together for meaningful Easter, Pentecost & Grade Parish Masses and ANZAC and World Environment Day Liturgies, fostering a deeper sense of faith and social responsibility.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting Excursion to the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary, gaining first hand insights into Australia's unique fauna. Year 2 had a fascinating trip to the Sydney Tram Museum, stepping back in time to explore the history of public transport. Meanwhile, Year 3 embarked on an adventurous Excursion to Symbio Wildlife Park, connecting with nature and learning about diverse animal species and their habitats.

Engaging with Literature and Reconciliation

We fostered a love of reading through National Simultaneous Storytime, where students across all grades shared in the joy of a common story. Some of our Aboriginal Student Representatives proudly attended the Sorry Day Service.

School Life and Kindergarten Enrolments

Regular Infants and Primary Assemblies continued to be a highlight, providing opportunities for celebrating learning, presenting awards and sharing important messages. Looking ahead, we held 2026 Kindergarten enrolment interviews, welcoming prospective new families into our school community.

We wish all students and their families a safe and enjoyable winter break. We will continue to work together in improving student learning and well being outcomes during the second half of the year.

Thank you to our students, teachers, parents and friends for their ongoing support. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 3!

SCHOOL PRIDE HOUSE COMPETITION

Congratulations to Polding (Blue) for winning the School Pride House Competition this term for collecting the most tokens for their house by consistently wearing the correct uniform and participating in Waste Free Wednesday. Today the students in Polding were rewarded with a mufti day and Zooper Dooper.

NETBALL GALA DAY

On Thursday, 28 June, we had ten teams (94 students) represent St John’s at the Western Region Netball Gala Day. The students did the very best on and off the Netball Court representing our school with great pride. All the students were safe, responsible, organised and respectful. But most importantly they all had fun!

It was a big day with a minimum of 7 x 20 minute games played by our teams. There was a great spirit amongst our students as they demonstrated their capacity to ‘Walk in peace and joy’.

Thank you to Mrs New for convening the day for our diocese. She did a wonderful job organising all the schools in the Western Region to participate in a successful Netball Gala Day.

Thanks also to Mrs Sinfeld and Mrs Walker for coordinating our school to participate. We thank them for their support in allowing our students to attend a great day.

Finally thanks to the teachers, SSO’s, parent volunteers and support from parents/carers to assist our children on the day. We look forward to being involved in the Netball Gala Day next year.
