Principal Report

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit and for these children who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Fill them with courage, wisdom, and a deep sense of your presence. May the gifts of the Holy Spirit strengthen them to be true witnesses of your love in the world. Help us, as a school community, to guide and support them on their journey of faith.

We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Last night, and again tonight, several of our students in Year 6 are celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation. This Initiation Sacrament is one of three, along with Baptism and the Eucharist. At Baptism, children received new life in Christ; at Confirmation, that life is strengthened and completed. By choosing to receive this Sacrament, the children are making a mature commitment to their faith and accepting the responsibility of being a witness to Jesus in the world.

I would like to pass on my thanks to: Fr John and Fr Richard; the Parish Sacramental team; Miss Costello, our Religious Education Coordinator; and Ms Polsen and Mr Williams who helped prepare the children.

We have certainly had a busy week. Last Thursady, we had the Jeans for Genes Day fundraising, along with the excitement of the 'Today Show' live broadcast from our school. I would like to especially thank the students and families from Year 3 and Year 1 who provided items for the cake stall and for getting children to school very early! More than $4 500 was raised which was an extraordinary amount.

We also had children who represented our school at the Western Region Athletics Carnival on Friday. As well as some excellent individual results, it is pleasing to know the children were great ambassadors for our school.

A final significant event we had was the Mini Vinnies Winter Sleepout which provided some of our Stage 3 students with the chance to experience a little of what life is like for those without a home.

Next week we have our Book Week Parade, which is always an exciting day. Our Year 6 students also have their excursion to Canberra. In the midst of the learning that happens each day, there are certainly lots of other great opportunities for the children.

Staff Development Day

You are reminded that the final Staff Development Day (Pupil Free Day) is being held on Monday 25 August.

Wishing you a blessed week,

Paul Moroney

Principal
