Dear Parents/Carers,
"Lord, You send out Your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people, so that they may believe in You and in Jesus whom You sent. Look kindly on all candidates for Confirmation as they listen to Your voice. Open their hearts to Your Spirit and bring to fulfilment the good work that You have begun in them. We pray that You will continue to guide them and sustain them. Through Christ our Lord, Amen."
Our prayer focus this week has been for our Year 6 students who this week have been celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation. The final Mass is being held tonight. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Fr John, Fr Feleki, the Parish Sacramental team, Mrs Hampton and many of our staff who supported the program and ensured that the children were still able to receive the Sacrament amidst the lockdown and restrictions.
Miss Tobin
As a follow up from the announcement that was pushed out on Compass this morning, I would like to pass on my personal congratulations to Miss Tobin on her first Principalship at St Patrick's, Port Kembla. Miss Tobin has made a significant impact in the short time that she has been at St John's and I know that she will have great success in the role of Principal. I will, however, greatly miss her collegial support.
Kindergarten Orientation
Yesterday we began our orientation program with next year's Kindergarten students. As we were unable to provide the Transition to School Playgroup, it is wonderful that we have at least been able to organise four visits to school to help ease them into 'big school.' We loved welcoming the children yesterday and look forward to their future visits.
P & F Meeting
You are reminded that the next P & F Meeting will be held next Tuesday, 30 November at 7.00pm in the Tiered Learning Space. This will be the first chance the P & F has been able to meet since the lockdown. All welcome.
Wishing you a safe and happy week,

CHRISTMAS FUN DAY AND “AFGHANISTAN REFUGEE” FUNDRAISER
On Wednesday 8th December, 2021 St John the Evangelist will be celebrating the end of year with a “Christmas Fun Day”. The student will be partaking in some fun activities during the day, which include sporting activities, Christmas stories and Christmas craft.
St John’s Parish has made contact with Mr Moroney and the Mini Vinnies Coordinators, asking if there was a way the school could help support the “Afghanistan Refugee” families that have recently arrived in Australia and are living in our local community. Many of these families have arrived in Australia with no belongings and are in need of our support and prayers. In conjunction with the “Christmas Fun Day”, we would like to ask our students to donate a “Gold Coin” towards this fundraiser. This money will go directly to St John’s Parish to buy much needed goods for our Afghanistan families.
Thank you for your generous support with our Mini Vinnies Christmas appeal, Keep sending in those donations we are still taking them this week.
