Dear Parents/Carers,
Lord Jesus, we ask for Your help as we begin this new school year. Allow us to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before us. Open our eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new year brings. Open our heart and mind to new friends and new teachers. Help us to be attentive to Your presence . Lord, inspire us to do our best. Amen.
Yesterday we were able to celebrate Mass to ask God's blessing on our school year. Fr John commented on how peaceful and reverent the children were, and he reminded them that they are the hands and feet of Christ in the way they treat others.
At the conclusion of Mass we presented leadership badges to our Year 6 school leaders. Already, they are proving themselves to be excellent role models and leaders for our school. I pray that they continue to take their role with great pride and responsibility.
Meet and Greets
During the next couple of weeks, teachers will be making attempts to contact parents who have indicated they would like a 'Meet and Greet' phone call. You are reminded that 'No Caller ID' may appear on your phone when they call. If the timing of the call does not suit, please make arrangements for another time. This can be done via the school office if needed. We greatly value the chance to hear from you about your child to support the connection between home and school.
COVID Safe Measures
Thank you for your support with our drop-off and pick-up arrangements. Just a reminder that in the afternoon, once you have collected your child you are asked to promptly leave the school site to avoid groups of visitors congregating. Also, parents collecting children from Years 3-6 are asked to wait until 3.00pm to enter the school grounds.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful week,
COVID SAFETY MEASURES
We greatly appreciate the ongoing support shown by the school community with the COVID safety measures. The safety of everyone, students, parents, caregivers and staff members, has been the priority for the past two years.
We do understand that we have had to be patient and that this continues. It has been most unfortunate not to have parents/guardians on site, participating in meetings and school celebrations. We pray that this will change soon so our school community can reconnect in ways prior to the pandemic.
MEET AND GREET
Thank you to parents/guardians for your assistance in passing on important information about your children to their classroom teachers. The purpose of this is to provide a greater insight into the learning and well being needs of the children in our care. If there are any matters that arise during the year about your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
SPECIAL GUESTS TO DISCUSS ONLINE SAFETY
Next week our Stage 2 & 3 students will be participating in a presentation about online safety by two of our local Police Liaison Officers. It will be an opportunity for students to learn about important issues when they are engaged in an online environment. In our next newsletter, some of our class captains will report on the presentation and share their experience..
STUDENT LEADERS
It is wonderful to be recognised for leadership qualities. We have had many students from years 1- 6 recognised for such qualities by their peers and teachers. We congratulate those children who have been selected as Class Captains.
Our Year 6 leaders were also recognised at our Opening School Mass. At the Mass they received their badges and recited our pledge, as a promise to serve and represent our school with pride. We thank them in anticipation for their commitment in their roles throughout the year.
We are confident that our student leaders will be great examples for others and demonstrate our Good Samaritan values.

If your child is away from school it is important to let the school know as soon as possible with a specific reason, e.g. what type of illness they have, If you are filling in a note on the Compass app, please add an explanation in the details/comments box .
It is really important to keep your child at home if they are unwell, this will help with the spread of illness. If a child presents with symptoms at school we will send them home.
Do not enter into compass if they are going to be late or leave early, that needs to be done from the school end.
If your child takes regular medication, has a medical condtion and/or allergy/anaphylaxis, the school will need documentation and/or an action plan from a medical professional as well as a signed consent form to administer medication/advice of medical condition (available from the office). This applies even if medication or condition are temporary.
