Dear Parents/Carers,
May the day never burden.
May dawn find you awake and alert, approaching your new day with dreams, possibilities and promises.
May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.
May you go into the night blessed, sheltered and protected.
May your soul calm, console and renew you.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank you for the way in which you have responded to the COVID Safe Measures that have been in place for nearly two years now. At this point in time, we have had very minimal interruptions to our school this year due to COVID related instances. I believe this has been due to a combined effort by all in our school community. Staff have been diligent in wearing a mask and maintaining distance from each other, students have been very flexible with the changes made to the normal routines at school, and we have all been aware of the need to stay home if unwell.
As parents and carers, I know that you have had to absorb a lot of information about our school's COVID Safe Measures, while also attending to your own family and work arrangements. The daily life 'juggle' must get wearing at times. Our school community is very grateful for your support.
You will have received information today about some changes to the COVID Safe Measures from next Monday via Compass. Before the end of this week, we will provide you with more specific information about how these changes may impact our drop-off and pick-up arrangements.
Wishing you a safe and peaceful week,
RAT KITS
As mentioned via Compass on 22 February:
In line with recent announcements from the NSW Government, the rapid antigen test (RAT) program will end on Friday 25 February 2022. This means that the twice weekly testing using RAT kits is no longer in place. Thank you for your patience and cooperation over the last four weeks. While it has been a—sometimes unwelcome—addition to the already busy morning routine, proactive testing was a critical tool to keep our school community safe, especially while case numbers remained high in the broader community.
For the remainder of Term 1, families are asked to use RATs at your discretion when you consider it necessary (e.g. if a child develops symptoms or a family member is unwell). In the coming weeks, each student will be provided with a further eight RATs to be used for this purpose. We are currently awaiting the delivery of the additional RATs from the NSW Government and we will advise you of collection details as soon as we receive the delivery.
ONLINE SAFETY FOR STAGE 2 & 3 STUDENTS
Our Stage 2 & 3 students had a special visit from our local School Police Liaison Officers- Senior Constable Michell & Senior Constable Winley. They came to discuss the important issue of online safety. The students are engaged in an online world and it is extremely important that they are aware of avoiding potential problems that can occur when accessing the internet.
The Constables focused on the importance of keeping personal details private and cyberbullying. The messages from our visitors certainly hit the mark with the students:
5 Gold Class Captains
Xavier: - Don't friend anyone you don't know.
- Don't play online games if you're not old enough.
Fisiilosi: - Never give your private information away online.
- Don't post something that shows your school logo, street signs, names or any other personal information.
6 Red Class Captains
Emily: - A police record starts at age 10.
Elliarna: - The police are able to retrieve deleted messages and pictures from your phone or iPad.
4 Gold Class Captains
Gabriella: - Do not allow location settings on social media apps, don't tag the location of where you are and don't upload photos and videos in your school uniform.
Patrick: - (on Jordan’s behalf) Do not reply or say anything back to mean messages that you receive. If you get any messages that you aren't sure about, you need to take a screenshot and show an adult.
6 Gold Class Captains
Anthony and Chamaya- We found it very interesting how she brought up scenarios about being ‘Cybersafe’and that the slides she showed and talked to us about were really informative.
