Dear parents and carers,
God of all ages, You send out your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people.
Look kindly on our candidates for Confirmation as they seek to hear your voice.
We pray that you send your Spirit to enlighten, guide, strengthen, console, and open their hearts as they continue to seek a closer relationship with you. Help them to truly know the deep and abiding love you have for each of them and fill them with the joy of your presence. As our community prepares these children for Confirmation, make us an instrument of your love, teach us to reverence what is holy in others and to be patient with what we do not understand. Deepen our faith and help us to pass it on by our example. We pray that you continue to guide and sustain us, and teach us the Way of Love. We praise you through Christ our Lord. Amen
Next Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, many of our students in Year 6 will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. We pray that they are filled with the Holy Spirit and that their relationship with Jesus is strengthened. Many blessings to them and their families during this special time.
200 Year Anniversary Mass
As mentioned previously, this event is happening on Sunday 28 August, commencing at 10.00am. We will have some students involved in the Mass, as well as others performing a dance as part of some entertainment. This celebration will include the following:
- Mass commencing at 10.00am under the school COLA. We will have some students involved in various parts of the Mass.
- food provided by various parish cultural groups. Our P & F will be running a BBQ at which they will need as many helpers as possible. Please contact our office if you are able to help.
- entertainment by various groups in the parish, including a group of our students involved in a dance performance.
Let's support our Parish through our attendance.
School focus on Mathematics
During this year, our teachers have been engaged in ongoing professional development to support the students' deep understanding of number in Mathematics. As well as them being able to learn about and work with numbers, we have been focussing on the 'Working Mathematically' strand of the curriculum which helps the students to engage in genuine mathematical activities and develop the skills of communicating, problem solving, reasoning, understanding and fluency.
To support this work, each of the classes had the chance this week to engage with activities provided by World of Maths. There were some great mathematical conversations happening as the children were solving the problems. There is an article in today's Newsletter which explains this incursion in more detail.
Wishing you all a happy and safe week,
Paul Moroney

REGIONAL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Congratulations to the students who competed at the Regional Athletics Carnival last Friday, 5 August. The students represented our school extremely well which we are so proud of! We know that they all tried their best in the event for which they competed in.
Some of the students managed to win ribbons and qualify to compete at the Diocesan Carnival. We wish them all well at the next event and look forward to finding out how they go.
MAPLE SETTLING INTO ST JOHN’S
With the help of the students and teachers, Maple is settling into her work here at St John’s. The students have been amazing in continuing to follow our three expectations to ensure Maple feels safe and relaxed.
Maple has begun to be with small groups of students while they complete their work. It is hoped that her presence will have a positive impact with their learning.
THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Holy Day of Obligation and is celebrated on the 15th August.
We celebrate the Assumption to commemorate the bodily taking up of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven at the end of her life.
This Monday our school community will gather together to celebrate Mass at 10am under the COLA. We warmly welcome parents and friends to join us in this significant celebration.

Just a reminder that all canteen lunch orders need to be ordered through the Flexi schools app before 9am.
Cut off for lunch orders is 9am, this is to ensure sufficient time for food preparation and proper cooking of food, no lunch orders will be accepted after this time
If a child has forgotten their lunch we will attempt to call a parent to check and then a sandwich will be provided by the canteen at the next break.
If we provide lunch for your child, we ask that you please pay for that lunch as soon as possible.
