Dear parents and carers,
God of all ages, You send out your Spirit to touch the hearts of all people.
Look kindly on our candidates for Confirmation as they seek to hear your voice.
We pray that you send your Spirit to enlighten, guide, strengthen, console, and open their hearts as they continue to seek a closer relationship with you. Help them to truly know the deep and abiding love you have for each of them and fill them with the joy of your presence. As our community prepares these children for Confirmation, make us an instrument of your love, teach us to reverence what is holy in others and to be patient with what we do not understand. Deepen our faith and help us to pass it on by our example. We pray that you continue to guide and sustain us, and teach us the Way of Love. We praise you through Christ our Lord. Amen
Last night and tonight many of our Year 6 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation along with other members of the Parish. Congratulations to each of them and their families as they demonstrate their personal commitment to their faith. It was wonderful that Bishop Brian was able to confirm them, something he hsan't been able to do for the last three years. I would like to thank Fr John, Fr Feleki and Fr Richard along with the Parish Sacramental Team, as well as Mrs Hampton, Mrs Brticevich, Mrs Vazquez, Mrs Aliphon, Miss Davidson, Mrs Shea and Mrs Sinfield who played a significant part in preparing the students and planning for the sacrament.
Book Week Parade
We look forward to the colour and fun of our Book Week Parade this Friday at 9.00am. While this gives the children the chance to dress up and imagine that they could be one of their favourite characters, let's remember that the focus of Book Week is all about encouraging the love of reading, and an awareness of the opportunities that being able to read presents all of us. The theme of Book Week this year is "Dreaming with eyes open". It has been wonderful seeing how many children are enjoying Early Bird Reading, as well as the number of books being borrowed from our library, both physical and digital copies.
200 Year Anniversary Mass
You are reminded that his event is happening on Sunday 28 August, commencing at 10.00am. We will have some students involved in the Mass, as well as others performing a dance as part of some entertainment. This celebration will include the following:
- Mass commencing at 10.00am under the school COLA. We will have some students involved in various parts of the Mass.
- food provided by various parish cultural groups. Our P & F will be running a BBQ at which they will need as many helpers as possible. Please contact our office if you are able to help.
- entertainment by various groups in the parish, including a group of our students involved in a dance performance.
The following article has been written by a local historian, Jeff McGill, which gives a recount of that day 200 years ago.
Wishing you all a happy and safe week,
Paul Moroney
Principal
NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. ‘Glass: More than meets the eye’ is the school theme for National Science Week in 2022 to celebrate the United Nations International Year of Glass.
Some of our classes will highlight how glass is so useful to all of us and provide opportunities to understand a household item in a new light. Glass has many useful properties, which has led to it being used in various applications from kitchenware to telescopes. We look forward to student’s learning about this material this week.
MAPLE- BRIDGING THE GAP
As Maple begins to become more familiar with her surroundings, the students and teachers, there will be more opportunities for interaction.
It can at times be confusing when we are wondering when we apply the 3 expectations to scenarios with Maple, and when we should move more towards interaction. This can be a real grey area for everyone.
Attached is a video called ‘Bridging the Gap’ which provides some clarity around the interactions we can begin having with Maple.
Happy Birthday to the following students and staff who are celebrating their

Just a reminder to parents that wherever possible please make appointments for your children outside of school hours but if unavoidable and you need to pick up your children early from school, you will need to notify the school as early in the day as possible so we can organise them to come to the office at the pre arranged time.
We are unable to locate children during break times, which is 11.05am-11.45am & 1.15pm-1.45pm, so please arrange pick up times outside of these times
Thank you for your assistance with this
