Dear Parents/Carers,
O Lord Jesus Christ,
when you entered Jerusalem, great crowds waved palm branches and cried “Hosanna.”
Save us now from our sins, and make us to rejoice in you, our only Redeemer;
Through your mercy, O our God, you are blessed, and live and govern all things,
now and forever.
Amen.
This Sunday in our church it is Palm Sunday (sometimes called Passion Sunday). This special feast commemorates the fulfilment of the prophecy given in Zecheriah 9, foretelling that the king and saviour would come mounted on a donkey, just as Christ triumphantly entered Jerusalem. Palm Sunday is meaningful because it indicates the beginning of Holy Week, the day when Jesus began His journey to the cross.
Each morning next week, the children will have the opportunity to share in the Holy Week events through a series of dramatisations and prayers.
School Photos
You are reminded that our school photos are being taken tomorrow, Thursday 30 March. All children are to wear the summer school uniform. Ordering of photos can be done online with details provided further in this Newsletter.
Cross Country
Our school’s Cross Country is being held this Friday 31 March on our school grounds. We look forward to our first carnival of the year that gives the children the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and compete for their House Colour.
A day such as this relies on the help of volunteers. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, even if it is only for a short time. If you have not done so already, you will need to complete a Volunteers Declaration Form prior to helping. On the day, you will be asked to meet with Mrs Marshall who will allocate you a job. We look forward to seeing you on the day.
Please note that all children are expected to stay at school until the conclusion of the carnival at approximately 2.00pm. This is one of few events in the year in which all children get to show support for their House Colour. The carnival finishes with the Colour House chants which the children love being involved in.
Staff Professional Development Days
You are reminded that Term 1 for the students concludes next Wednesday, 5 April. Staff will have a Professional Development Day on Thursday 6 April.
The other Staff Professional Development Days (Pupil Free days) for this year will be:
- Monday 5 June
- Friday 22 September
- Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 December
Wishing you a safe and blessed week,
EASTER PHOTO WITH MAPLE
On Friday, 31 March, Maple will be available for an Easter Photo with families for a gold coin donation. The donation will go towards purchasing supplies for Maple to be used at school.
We invite parents to bring their phones to take a photo of Maple with their children. There will be a special backdrop that Maple and the children will pose in front of for the photo. The photos can be taken by parents and carers throughout the day during the breaks.
These photos will be taken in the Tiered Learning Space. Please enter via the verandah and doors of the Year 1 Learning Space, opposite the canteen.
Please understand that Maple’s well being comes first. It is hoped that families wishing to have their photo with Maple will be able to take place. However, her well being comes first and families may miss out if she needs a break from this activity. We thank families in anticipation for their understanding if this occurs.
HOLY WEEK
Holy Week is one of the most significant events of the Liturgical Year. It begins on Palm Sunday, the 6th Sunday of Lent, and finishes at the conclusion of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening. The events of Holy Week are told as a continuous narrative.
We look forward to commemorating Holy Week events next week at the beginning of each day.
