Dear Parents and Carers,
God, give us the courage to live in the now.
Help us to live into the ordinary days of our lives.
Remind us that this day is a gift from you in all its ordinariness.
For this day, we give you thanks, Gracious God, because you gave us another day to love you and to love each other.
Amen.
The Parish celebration of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion was a special moment for the children and their families on the weekend. Fr John reminded the children of how this blessed sacrament, when it is received with genuine commitment, helps to bring us closer to Jesus and to be in communion with others.
Once again, we give thanks for their families, Fr John, Fr Feleki, Fr Richard, the Parish Sacramental team and our own staff who helped the children prepare for their special day.
Student Academic Progress Reporting
We highly value any opportunity for parents to find out about their child's progress and growth at school. Many of you make contact with classroom teachers throughout the year, and teachers also schedule appointments as the need arises. This supports the school and family connections which makes for meaningful support of the children.
Next week will begin a scheduled reporting process that we have at the end of Semester 1 (Terms 1 & 2) each year. Academic reports for students in Year 1-6 will be made available via Compass toward the end of next week. In our diocesan system of schools, Kindergarten receive a report at the end of Semester 2 only.
In the following week (26-30 June), we will then be providing you with an opportunity to book a Parent/Teacher Meeting to discuss their progress. This will be for all children from Kindergarten to Year 6. We look forward to engaging with you through this process.
Wishing you a great week,
Paul Moroney
Principal
ENRICHMENT CHOIR
The Enrichment Choir is held in the Music Room every Thursday at Lunch 2. Our training sessions always start with a vocal warm up, then we practise our pitch skills by singing scales. Other areas we focus on are breathing, pace, diction and stage presence. The Enrichment Choir works very hard to learn and perfect many liturgical songs which we sing at each whole school mass. We also work on pop songs so that we can practise singing melodies and harmonies.
By Ms Johnson
What does it feel like to be part of the Enrichment Choir?
Gabriella and Angelica (Year 5)
It’s really fun to be part of the Enrichment Choir as all of the girls and boys are really nice and welcoming. We sing at the whole school masses and we really love it!
Marlena (Year 6)
It’s a cool opportunity to do something fun at lunch time. It is great to perform at Masses and in general. Ms Johnson teaches and helps us improve so we can sing to the best of our abilities.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
On Saturday, 10th June & Sunday, 11th June, many of our Year 3 students made their First Holy Communion. They were all very well prepared to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. We congratulate these candidates, their families, our Parish Priests and the Sacramental Team for the beautiful celebrations over the weekend.
A special thank you to Mrs Hampton and many of our teachers for giving up their time to lead the Sacramental workshops.
STUDENTS ARRIVING TO SCHOOL ON TIME
Just a reminder that students need to arrive at school before 8:45am when school commences. This is extremely important for children so they can move into class ready for learning at the start of the day. Important messages are also shared that provide information to support their learning and well being.
We understand it can be a challenge on some mornings getting organised for the school day. This is just a reminder for some parents and carers, to ensure that children do arrive at school on time. We thank you for your consideration of this matter.
LOST PROPERTY
There is a lot of lost property currently sitting outside the office at the moment. A range of jackets, jumpers and hats. If your child has misplaced a piece of their uniform we would encourage you to look in the baskets outside the office door that leads out to the playground.
Happy Birthday to the following students and staff who are celebrating their birthday this week 11th June - 17th June
