SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
Year 6 Parent Information Evening for Confirmation will be held tonight Wednesday 31 July at 7pm in the Church
Dear Parents and Carers,
In the Gospel of Luke 11:1-13, we hear the disciples asking Jesus how to pray. Prayer is about establishing a personal relationship with God, as with any relationship, prayer takes time and energy on our part. Developing a rich prayer life is an important step to building our relationship with God. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray using the words that we know as the Our Father. Through this prayer we ask God, to give us each day our daily bread, to forgive our sins and to also forgive those who have sinned against us. When we pray, we enter into a conversation with God, we open ourselves to asking God to come into our lives and be with us through all aspects of our lives. We also need to be open to God’s will. This means that things may not happen in the timeframe that we envisage. When we make a request for something, we are asking God to work through us to enable this to occur. For example, when we pray for peace, we are asking God to help us to be makers of peace to those around us.
Having taught his disciples a simple, daily prayer, Jesus goes on to reassure them that God answers prayers. First he tells a parable about a persistent neighbour who asks a friend for bread at midnight. The friend is already in bed and has no desire to disturb his family by opening the door. But because the neighbour is persistent, the sleeping man gets up and gives him all that he needs.
If a neighbour is willing to help us if we are persistent enough, how could God not respond to our requests?
Jesus leaves his disciples with three verbs, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. We need to continue to build our relationship with God through daily prayer life so that we can continue to ask, seek and have the door of faith opened to us.
Wishing you a great week ahead.

This week, we warmly welcome back Mr Scott Borg to St John’s. Scott has recently had a period of leave to welcome the safe arrival of his first son, Luca. We extend congratulations to Scott and his wife Katrina at this time of great joy.
We also wamly welcome back Mrs Vicki Stolzenhein, to the position of Canteen Manager for two days (Tuesday and Thursday) each week. Mrs Stolzenhein has been the Canteen Manager for many years and she returns following a period of personal leave to support her family circumstances. Mrs Stolzenhein is a very valued and much loved member of our school community. She fulfils a unique role within our school, that involves a multitude of tasks, including many that are unseen by the wider community. Mrs Nicole Tate will also continue in the role as Canteen Manager this term to support Mrs Stolzenhein’s return to St John’s.
Grandparents and Great People Day
Much gratitude is extended to all our families and their special visitors who were able to join us in making last Friday such a special day in our school calendar. I know how important these special people are in the lives of our students and it was
wonderful to see how much the students and grandparents enjoyed this special day.
Thank you to Fr Feleki, our staff and students, who under the leadership of Mr Astill helped us to celebrate the special blessing of having grandparents and gr
eat people in our lives.
Thank you also to our wonderful P&F who are assisted with the hospitality and contributed greatly to building community spirit for the day.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC CLUB COMMUNION MASS
Thank you to our School Captains, Eve Dooley and Alex Moy who gave up part of their Sunday last weekend, to act as our student representatives at the Annual Catholic Club Communion Mass, that was celebrated at St Thomas More. Much gratitude is extended to the Campbelltown Catholic Club for their generous and ongoing financial support of Catholic Education in the Macarthur.
Our school is truly blessed to continue to be supported by such a wonderful organisation. An organisation that was originally begun, by parents of St John’s now celebrating 55 years of operation. This is a fitting tribute to the aims and objectives established by the members of the Campbelltown Catholic Club and the dedication of the directors both past and present.
