Christ Jesus,
You welcomed children and brought healing and hope to their lives.
We pray that as your Church, we will create places of welcome, care and safety for all children, reflecting your love and compassion.
We commit ourselves as your Church to be communities, where people can flourish in ways of trust and love.
We pray that your Spirit will empower us to be advocates for a society in which all children can flourish.
Through Christ, Our Light and Life, we pray, Amen.
Dear Parents/Carers,
This week is Working with Children Week, an initiative that started in 2021 as a week-long focus on child-related workers and the processes that help them keep our children safe. The 2024 theme is - Involved families and communities.
Our school community counts on us as to remain diligent in meeting all Working With Children Check (WWCC) requirements. This is a cornerstone of our shared commitment to child safety.
You can be assured that all child-related workers need to be cleared prior to working in at our school, by providing current WWCC details, as required by law. Other workers who the law exempts from the WWCC are required to complete a declaration.
As parents in a school community, you are encouraged to obtain a WWCC which then enables you to volunteer at school events. It also enables you to volunteer in other community gropus and organisations in which your child participates. A WWCC can be obtained by visiting the website for the Office of the Children's Guardian.
School Disco
I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the many parents who supported the disco that was held last Friday. I know that the P & F was extremely grateful for your generosity in giving up some time on a Friday evening, all for the benefit of the children.
Wishing you a safe and blessed week,
HALF YEARLY REPORTS & PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Your child/ren's Semester 1 Report will be available to view on your Compass Portal under "view academic reports" next week. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child's progress and achievements over the past semester. If you have any trouble accessing your child’s report please contact the office as soon as possible.
During Week 10 we will have the opportunity for our half-yearly parent-teacher interviews. These interviews are essential for fostering a collaborative environment that supports the student's academic and personal development. It ensures that both parents and teachers are aligned in their efforts to help the student succeed.
Next week, a Compass message will be shared with parents/carers to select their interview time(s) via our online booking system. Once logged in you will be able to enter your details, choose your teacher, then pick the time available that is most suitable for you.
On Monday, 1 July, it is our late night where interviews can be made up to 6:50pm. Teachers will also make themselves available on other mornings and afternoons throughout the week. We look forward to this valuable opportunity to share student progress with parents and carers.
SCHOOL PRIDE HOUSE COMPETITION
In Week 10, our School Pride House Competition will be awarded to the students who have collected the most tokens for their house by consistently wearing the correct uniform and participating in Waste Free Wednesday this term.
The winning house will be announced on Monday, 1 July via Compass and at Tuesday morning’s assembly. The reward will take place on Wednesday, 2 July. On this day students from the winning house will be rewarded with a mufti day and Zooper Dooper.
NETBALL GALA DAY
On Friday, 28 June, we have twelve teams (105 students) representing St John’s at the Western Region Netball Gala Day. We wish the students the very best on the Netball Court and encourage them all to be safe, responsible, organised and respectful. But most importantly to have fun!
The day is non-competitive to cater for children of all abilities. Teams have been selected based on preferences given by children earlier in the year. The aim is to give everyone an opportunity to participate, regardless of skill or ability.
We look forward to finding out all about the Gala Day after the event. A special thank you to Mrs New who is convening the event for the diocese. We also thank the teachers, parents and carers in anticipation of their support on the day.
