Creator God,
We thank You for the beauty of the changing seasons and for the gift of winter. As we gather indoors, we pray for warmth and comfort for all our families.
Bless our children, keeping them safe and healthy. May their hearts remain warm with Your love, even as the temperatures drop. Help them to see Your beauty in the quiet moments of winter and to appreciate the warmth of home and family.
Inspire us all to be a source of warmth and light for those around us, sharing Your love and compassion with everyone we meet.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Dear Parents/Carers,
As a Catholic school community, a cornerstone of our mission is to live out the Gospel message of love and service to others, especially those most vulnerable. This spirit of compassion is at the heart of our participation in Jeans for Genes Day on Thursday, August 7th.
This important day raises vital funds for the Children's Medical Research Institute, who are dedicated to finding cures and treatments for children living with genetic diseases. Imagine the hope this research brings to families facing challenging diagnoses – hope for a better quality of life, for breakthroughs, and even for cures. By simply wearing our jeans and making a gold coin donation, our students are directly contributing to life-changing research. It's a wonderful opportunity for our children to understand that their small actions can make a profound difference in the lives of others, embodying the Christian call to care for our neighbours in need - a great link to the Good Samaritan parable.
You may be aware that one of our students, Sophia in Year 3, is one of the 'faces' of Jeans for Genes. Her story can be seen on their website . Our school's flyer also mentions that the Today Show will be doing live crosses to our school on the morning of 7 August. As we are limited in the number of students who can be directly involved in these live crosses, we are focusing on Sophia and the Year 3 students.
Thank you for your continued generosity and for helping us teach our students the power of collective giving.
School Disco
I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the many parents who assisted at the Disco last Friday night. Your generosity of time is greatly appreciated. The children definitely had a great time!
Wishing you a blessed week,
Paul Moroney
Principal
ACCESSIBLE PARKING
A reminder that the Three Accessible Parking Spaces is only for those who have a parking permit for that space.
There have been some parents and carers who have parked in these spaces, particularly during school dismissal. These spots need to be left available for those members of the community who really need them and who have the appropriate permit visible.
We have students requiring their parents to park in these spaces. We respectfully request that only those people in our community who are permitted to park in these spaces are able to do so.
TERM 3 CLASS CAPTAINS REMINDER
On Monday, 4 August, Term 3 Class Captains will receive their badge at our morning assembly. We will inform parents via Compass before this Friday, who our Term 3 Class Captains are, so you might be available to grab a photo and see your child receive their badge.
We are confident that our student leaders will be great examples for others and demonstrate our Good Samaritan values, ‘Walking in Peace and Joy.’
YEAR 1 EXCURSION TO SYMBIO WILDLIFE PARK
On Monday, 28 July, our Year 1 students and teachers went on an exciting excursion to Symbio Wildlife Park. The excursion had initially been planned to happen in Term 2 but poor weather meant that it was rescheduled for this term.
The excursion was planned to support learning with the Term 2 Science units titled- External Features of Living Creatures & Living Things Live in Different Places.
The day was a wonderful learning experience with the students able to engage with a range of Australian native animals.
April 1R- I really liked feeding the wallabies and kangaroos.
Harley 1R- I liked seeing the dingoes and baby chickens.
Oliver 1B- When we saw the animals in the dark
Maaliyah 1B- I loved seeing the red pandas. They were hiding but we found them.
Dylan 1G- There were lots of animals to see.
Sophia 1G- I liked seeing all the animals and the blue tongue lizards.
Walk in Peace and Joy KB - Sophie D - For bringing joy to the classroom through her kindness and positive actions. 1B - Willow Z - for demonstrating how to be a Good Samaritan by always being ready to help her peers 2B - Evan B - for using a kind and respectful voice to help others feel safe and valued. 3B - Vaidehi B- For consistently walking in Peace and Joy in both the classroom and playground, and for helping others feel supported. 4B - Sugam B- For demonstrating how to 'Walk in Peace and Joy' by always helping and including his peers 5B - Leo J - for always bringing peace and joy to 5 Blue by being friendly and helpful. 6B - Belen G - For always being a Good Samaritan and for ‘Walking in Peace and Joy’ with others. |
