Liturgy for Fr John's 25th Anniversary Last Day of Term |
Monday | 20th July |
First day of Term 3 |
Dear Parents/Carers,
Congratulations Fr John
Today marks the 25th Anniversary of Fr John's Ordination to the Priesthood. On Friday the children and staff will have an opportunity to celebrate a Liturgy with him to acknowledge this significant achievement and to thank God for the gifts that Fr John brings to our parish and school.
We are truly grateful for Fr John's dedication to his vocation and his strong desire to empower all of us to be active members of the church now and into the future. His story of choosing to leave his family and friends behind in Vietnam is an inspiring one and goes some way to explaining his desire to have the Good News shared with as many people as possible.
Alpha Online
I remind you of the Alpha Online program for parents and carers. As the promotional material indicates, it is a 10-week program which allows you to explore Christianity in a friendly, non-judgemental environment. You are encouraged to even be part of the first session to find out more about it if you are concerned about being able to commit to the full 10 weeks.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the many parents who have taken up the offer this week of a phone interview with your child's teacher. While a phone interview has its limitations, I hope that you have been able to get some more detail about your child's learning during this semester. As always, you are most welcome to arrange an interview at any time of the year if there is anything you wish to discuss about your child's progress.
Staffing
As has been previously mentioned, next term we welcome Miss Gabi Tobin to our school community as our permanent Assistant Principal. I would like to acknowledge Mrs Libro and Mrs Billet who, for the last eighteen months, have been in the role of Acting Assistant Principal. We are fortunate that we will still have their expertise on our Leadership Team as they return to their Middle Leader roles. I also acknowledge Mr Astill and Mrs Polsen who have also been in an acting role on our leadership team.
Term 3 COVID Restrictions and Procedures
A letter was sent today via the Compass app that explains some of the expectations for Term 3. Please continue to take notice of any updates that will be pushed out as a notification on the Compass app, especially just prior to Term 3 commencing.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience during Term 2. It has certainly had its disruptions and I have been very grateful for everyone's understanding as we made changes to some of our procedures, often at short notice. It is pleasing that the restrictions appear to be working for all of us in NSW at the moment. I pray that this continues.
Wishing you and your family a safe student holiday break. I look forward to seeing the children back on Monday 20 July.
God bless.

Sacrament of Confirmation
We are about to commence the Sacramental preparation for Confirmation for children who are in Year 6 and above. This will commence early in Term 3.
To be eligible to participate in this Sacramental preparation, the child must have already received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
This year, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to run the program in the usual manner. Therefore, we are changing our preparation. Our parent information and children’s lessons will be going online. Every child will need an iPad/computer to participate in this program. It will be run through Google Classroom.
All lessons will be pre-recorded on Zoom and placed in Google Classroom. Children will be able to move through the 4 lessons at their own pace. There will just be links for the child to click on to go to the lesson.
The fee for this sacramental preparation is $25 – this covers the workbook, medal and certificate. We ask you to pay this when you come to collect your child’s Confirmation workbook from the Parish Office.
We ask ALL parents to watch the zoom recording of the Parent Information. This is very important for parents to understand what is happening. This is also in the Google Classroom folder for Sacrament of Confirmation.
To enter the Google Classroom, every child must enter a code. This will be made available early in Term 3.
If you have any questions, please contact the parish office.
Due to COVID restrictions parents are currently not allowed on school grounds. We also need to limit the amount of visitors that come into the office, so please only come into the office if necessary.
It is important that you let the office know as soon as possible, via email or phone, if you are picking your child up prior to dismissal (including time). We can then arrange to have them in the office ready for you. Please note we are unable to arrange collection of your children during break times (11.15am-12 & 1.15pm-2pm) without prior notice. Please do not enter late arrivals or early departures into compass, this needs to be done by the school office.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
If your child is away from school it is important to let the school know as soon as possible with a specific reason, e.g. what type of illness they have, If you are filling in a note on the Compass app, please add an explanation in the details/comments box .
It is really important to keep your child at home if they are unwell, this will help with the spread of illness. In the current COVID 19 climate ,It is preferrable that you get a medical clearance for your child to return to school
If your child has a covid test, please notify the school when they have the test and as soon as you get your results please forward these on to the school.
