Dear Parents/Carers,
Wishing you a very Happy Easter and a very warm welcome back for Term 2!
I hope that the holidays were a time to enjoy the company of family and friends and to bask in the beautiful weather. Hopefully, the time away from the usual routine provided an excellent opportunity for rest, relaxation and recharging of batteries in preparation for what promises to be a very hectic, but hopefully a very productive Term 2.
Last weekend, one of our parents David Peters (father of Blake Year 4 Red, Chloe and Lachlan (JTCHS) and uncle of Cameron (K Blue) lost his battle with cancer. We remember his wife Michelle, their children and extended family members at this very sad time. May he rest in eternal peace.
An article about the family recently featured in the Macarthur Advertiser and a go fund me page has been set up to support the family.
This can be found by using the following link -

Tailored Testing Information – NAPLAN online 2019 for parents with children in Year 3 and Year 5
From the 14th of May to the 24th May, our school will participate in NAPLAN Online. The information brochure for parents and carers addresses common questions about NAPLAN Online testing.
One of the main features of the NAPLAN Online format is that it is a tailored (or adaptive) test. The tailored test provides a more precise assessment of your child’s performance in the areas of reading, language conventions (grammar, spelling and punctuation) and numeracy by adapting to responses. As your child progresses through the test, questions may be easier or more difficult, to better assess his or her ability. Your child should not be concerned if he or she finds the questions more difficult than expected – the pathway may be more challenging.
Many of the same questions appear in both paper and online tests, but not every student doing the online test will be answering the same questions in the same order.
Your child’s NAPLAN results and scores are based on the number and complexity of questions he or she has answered correctly.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Helen Libro
Acting Assistant Principal

ANZAC Day – 25th April 2019
During the holidays, St John’s was well represented by many students and their families who joined with staff to represent our school at the Campbelltown ANZAC Day March and Service.
This annual celebration acknowledges our veterans, many of who paid the ultimate sacrifice in order for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. All our students were exemplary in their behaviour and very publicly and confidently demonstrated our important school value of respect.
Thank you to all those who were able to represent our school at this important community event!
Remember Waste Free Wednesday every week.

As Mrs Stolzenhein continues her leave this term, we welcome back Mrs Nicole Tate who will continue in the role of Canteen Manager.
Please see Nicole if you are able to volunteer in the canteen this term.
The Canteen will be closed this Friday 3rd May. Thank you for ensuring that your child/ren come to school with sufficient food on Friday.
